Tour guests will have the opportunity to explore seven remarkable private Chapel Hill gardens, the North Carolina Botanical Garden (NCBG) and the Carolina Campus Community Garden (CCCG).

In addition to strolling in the gardens, visitors are invited to enjoy PAINT NC artists painting plein air in several of the private gardens, hear an outdoor performance by the NC Opera in the NC Botanical Garden and view gardening demonstrations at the Carolina Campus Community Garden (CCCG).

Tour proceeds will help build the Children’s Wonder Garden at the NCBG.

Area artists from the plein air artists group PAINT NC will be painting in three of the gardens: Curcio, Lovejoy-Henkel and Norwood.

Visitors to the NCBG on Saturday, May 3rd, during the tour, will be treated to several light opera selections through the presentation “Opera in the Garden.” Members of North Carolina Opera will delight lovers of music and nature in the main display garden beginning at 3:30pm, with a repeat performance at 4:30 pm. CHGC tour tickets will be available for purchase.

The Carolina Campus Community Garden (CCCG) has planned a number of interesting gardening activities for Tour weekend, including demonstrations by “Compost Queen” Linden Thayer on Saturday at 1:00 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm. Look for a bee presentation at 1:30 on Saturday. Master Gardeners will be at the community garden throughout the tour to provide gardening information and answer questions for tour attendees.
